STEREO LENTICULAR AND HOLOGRAM IMAGE DESIGN

As technology marches on, stereo and holographic imaging becomes more available to a modest budget. These unique media can be just the solution to certain visualization problems.

As creatures with binocular vision, most of us are use to looking at the world through two eyes. These vision instruments give us two slightly different views of our surroundings. Our brain merges the views into one image in our cortex, which we accept as having depth and reality. These tools help us walk, talk, and chew gum while we navigate a rather complex and dangerous world. It is a shame when we have to limit our selves to depthless mediums like photography, film, or television in order to reproduce our world graphically.

Technology is solving these problems. We offer techniques and expertise in the design and production of stereo images. We can design, photograph, and create with computer, the necessary components for the creation of both stereo lenticular and holographic images. They can be as small as the hologram on a credit card or as big as a poster.

Lenticular stills can show depth and/or animation, such as a baseball card with a movie of his greatest play or an engineering diagram too complex for a 2 dimensional illustration to communicate. The multiple images required are sliced, diced, and reassembled in an order which registers with plastic sheet of linear lenses. The lenses limit when and how we view the slices as we move about the picture.

Stereo computer animation is also a very potent medium to deliver a message. The technology, which requires liquid crystal glasses is quite stunning, when done correctly and the depth you see leaves no ambiguity. You can literally reach out and touch it. Recently there was an announcement of a new cable channel devoted to this method of displaying video programming. The technology for presenting unassisted viewing of stereo images is in development and will be a reality.
